Biography:
Valerie Jolivet is a “ true song bird “ with versatility and a gift from GOD. An anointed singer by the LORD. Valerie is the oldest child of Pastor: L. R. Drones, Sr. and her late mother, Cleopatra Drones. She grew up in Houston, Texas where at the time was” East Bethel Baptist Church”, in Houston, Texas.
She graduated from Hebert High School in 1970 and from Lamar University in 1987 with a degree in Sociology.
Valerie made her professional singing debut in 1988 in Port Arthur, Texas with the performance of actor Dr.Willams Marshall of California as he portrayed Frederick Douglas. She has performed in three operas: Showboat, Mikado, and Camelot, with the Beaumont Civic Opera. She was a guest on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show in 1988 which was aired nationally. Valerie was the opening performer for the Shirley Caesar Concert in 1989. and Beverly Crawford in March 2002. Her debut album “Blessed Assurance” was released in April 1989.
In August 1997, Mrs. Jolivet recorded her second album, “Press Toward The Mark”, of the 13 songs, nine were written by Valerie. She recorded at Home Alone Studio in Beaumont, Texas which is owned by Pastor: Ralph Foster. The album was remixed by the Sound lab at Disc Makers in Pennsauken, NJ
Valerie is a resident of Beaumont, Texas she is married to Mr. Jimmy Jolivet, owner of “Alpha And Omega Records”
In 1999, she appeared on Gospel Showcase, T.V. She is currently a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, in Beaumont, Texas where she sings in the choir. She is a licensed Evangelist who also does prison ministries, at State, Local And Federal Prisons. She also ministers at local nursing homes.
Her third CD. “Songs Of The Heart To The Lord” was released in April 2001.
In March 2002, Valerie participated in the Gospel Music Festival in Baton Rouge,
Lousiana.She opened up for national recording artist, Beverly Crawford. of Florida. In July of 2006. Valerie released her Fourth CD “In Your Presence Lord “. Valerie, on December of 2007 opens for Vickie Winans at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Valerie often says” I am just a vessel for the Lord. To God be the Glory for the things he as done.”
