Shawn Everette was born in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. Growing up, he honed his vocal and musical gifts in the same cultural institution that launched the careers of such legends as Christopher Williams, Babyface, Johnny Gill the church. At Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where the late Arthur L. Mackey Sr. was pastor, Shawn Everette began to sing solos at the tender age of 13 and began writing and producing songs for himself. After graduating high school, he attended Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York to further his broad based musical training. There he underwent two years of intensive vocal training with a professional vocal trainer and extensive singing lessons. He also interned at a recording studio, furthering the perfection of his craft and gaining additional experience in producing. After graduating from Five Towns College with a degree in Audio Engineering, Everette had one of his original R&B songs highlighted on a major radio station in New York. I really believe that experience helped to expand my insight and vision in regards to my aspirations as a singer, songwriter, and producer. After performing at an open audition in Manhattan, he was offered a recording contract with Famous Artist Associates, a management company affiliated with Motown Records. However, he began to realize the importance of his spiritual background. I found that the only way that I could truly be satisfied with my life and music was through Christ. I knew that in order for my music to get to the next level, I was required to make the music His. With that revelation, he vowed to write, produce, and perform music that glorified God. Shawn Everette migrated to Baltimore, Maryland, completing his Bachelors degree in Communications at Morgan State University. While there he worked with various artists, at various studios such as Elysium Records, and performed at Marylands biggest event, the AFRAM Expo and shared the stage with Commissioned, Kirk Franklin, and John P. Kee. After an intense three-year season of training, Shawn Everette is entering the music industry with a divine revelation concerning his destiny: Were living in an age where people are dying because they have no knowledge of Jesus. Its time that we go on the offensive by ministering to the masses. I know that God has called me to minister to those who dont know Him. With a refined focus, Shawn Everette combines urban contemporary and a quiet storm brand of soul, along with influences from a variety of musical influences such as hip-hop and R&B to create his own signature sound destined to reach the masses.
