| Biography: "Rhythm & Praise" Gospel Artist, Melody Barnes, is an anointed & multi-gifted singer, writer, actress, and speaker, bringing you a fresh new sound with a unique vocal blend of Jazz, Soul, R & B, and Traditional Gospel. Her musical inspirations are as varied as her musical taste, they include: Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, Tramaine Hawkins, Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige, & Chaka Khan. These as well as others have helped to inspire & shape the soulful sound and style that is uniquely Melody!
Melody also has a wealth of experience to draw from, having made her singing debut at the tender age of six years old on live AM radio in her Detroit hometown. In addition, she has opened up for and shared the stage with such notable Gospel & Christian artists as, Marvin Winans, Angelo & Veronica, Deitrick Haddon, Gary Oliver, Isaiah Thomas, Larnell Harris, Donnie McClurkin, Byron Cage and a host of others. No stranger to the acting stage, she has also performed in several Gospel Musical Productions, which included appearances at Washington, DC's historic Lincoln Theater & Maryland's celebrated Publick Playhouse.
The "Motown" native not only has an inborn passion for music, but also a re-born passion for souls! Although gifted in many areas, Melody remains focused on the true purpose for the gifts, as well as the gift giver. A predominantly sought after Psalmist and Worship Leader, she is very active in outreach ministry and ministers frequently at various conferences throughout the United States. Indeed, Melody also knows the purpose and the reason why she sings... "I know that a major portion of my assignment on earth is to bring the message of Christ's love, hope, and power to save, set free, & deliver to the non-believer & believer alike... to those who may be securely planted, the not so sure, & the not at all's - I will take the "good news" message to any & everyone that will hear!... I am not only called to go, but to carry the anointing for worship, praise, psalms, hymns, & spiritual songs in music styles & genres that can be received by ALL!"
Melody's songs are a part of her personal testimony, trials, and triumphs... A candid reflection of a continual journey with Christ one that she plans to share with the world! It is from this place that her tremendous passion & raw emotion is evoked and is felt in every song on her project. The debut release from Melody, features music production from Sam Kendrick of the Stellar Award nominated group, "7 Sons of Soul" and International Producer, Steve "Keyz" Ebhodaghe. The Reason is currently scheduled for release November, 2007.
