| Description: Dispensate's sound is a diverse mixture of gospel roots, mixed with modern rock and country. Hard guitars, sweet acoustic ballads and borderline hip-hop funk exposes the line crossing diversity of our music. |
Biography: Dispenste
Christian rock act Dispenste delivers the goods in the form of music that hits hard as rock and roll and hits even harder as a force of spiritual awakening. God never limited spreading the Word to talking. Nothing says it can't be sung, and played. That's what God-given talent is for and that's why Dispenste is here to rock you.
Music Means ...
Music means more than just having a good time, though that is most certainly a factor. The greatest music has always had something to say and how great is music that is born from talent and comes bearing the greatest message of all? “Music is spiritual,” say Tammie Bergmann and Jeff Bergmann of Dispenste. “It is the basis of which we were created.” Music is the ideal way to reach the soul because it speaks to the mind and heart simultaneously and via that prime path, the inner spirit itself. It is also the remover of boundaries, the thing that brings people together in harmony. Just look at a rock audience, swaying together, many different people moving as one. How much more united are they if the Spirit is flowing through the music, a tool of God? “Music crosses all lines that divide, such as race, gender ... and faith.”
Song of God
Perhaps God's voice sang part of creation into existence? Music contains the essence of us all, and when used as a positive tool of spirituality, it feeds us on a stripped-down personal level, fully human and awash in our spirit, which is our link to God. “Humanity is just a vehicle,” say the Bergmanns. “Music is the automaker.” It is something bigger than us so it is only fitting that Someone bigger than us should us it as the ultimate tool to help guide our lives and reach others.
MESSage
For Dispenste, the greatest joy is “watching God take our mess and turn it into our message.” On their own, humans are misguided and lonely and prone to the faults of being human. But when open to God's power, used as his vessels, a man or woman suddenly becomes the proxy for his Creator, his talents guided and streamlined into a method of glory.
The Artist at Work
Dispenste has recorded and performed with Minister Leroy Pirtle (“a product of gospel legend Fred Hammond,” according to the Bergmanns). The group has also played with Tree-63 and Seventh Day Slumber. Dispenste is wrapping up work on its next CD and is currently working with A&R Select, the hottest indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
“Dispenste dodges triteness and opens up the talent of its membership to funneling a compelling spiritual message through tight musicianship.” - A&R Select
